I am the Only King (c.1655)

For the young Angevine King, Arthur II, solidifying his control over the British Isles was paramount in his vision, along with eliminating all of his royal competition. With the calm Kingdom of Greenwich in the south and the rebellious independent nations in the north, a combination of his skills in diplomacy and the recent massive military restructuring under François de la Riviera was needed to unify the islands once and for all. In 1651, Arthur II married the Queen of Greenwich, Charlotte Grey, all-but-ensuring that the south of England would be united under one crown. Along with their marriage came the Wealdish colonies in the new world.

In the north, Arthur's promise of marriage between his son, the future Charles IX, and the princess and heir-apparent of Scotland, Sophia Anna, upon Charles' coming of age placed pressure upon both the Yorkish and Lancastrian Englishmen. By 1655, the threat of war loomed over the Isles. The Lancastrians were quick to find friends within the English and Irish peerages. A civil war was brewing once again within this fragile united kingdom of France & England.

I'm starting to find a common design that I enjoy; however, for an upcoming map, it's not going to be too dissimilar from the one above, but I'm going to try my hand at a war map with battles and such labelled upon it. Other than that, I'm torn between doing a proper detailed modern map of somewhere in my Anglicanum Universalis timeline or something from the late 1400 to 1500s. Other than that, it's all surprises cos I never am too sure what I want to work on!
